Another Texas family has joined the ranks of those who have lost loved ones because of another driver’s negligence. A tragic car accident has claimed the life of a teen driver in Denton County, Texas. Authorities report that the 16-year-old girl was killed on Feb. 10, when a pickup truck smashed into the vehicle she was driving. This incident is just another example of the impact that driver negligence can have on a family and a community.
The wreck occurred on FM 156 when a Ford pickup truck drifted over the centerline. The vehicle driven by the victim smashed into that truck, though news reports do not indicate whether it was a head-on collision. The driver suffered catastrophic injuries and was declared dead at the scene. Another teen in the victim’s vehicle was transported to a local hospital after also suffering serious injuries. The 31-year-old driver of the truck was also wounded in the wreck.
Authorities say they are still investigating the wreck. They are considering the fact that poor weather conditions could have contributed to the collision. No mention has been made of intoxication or speeding.
The teen driver was reportedly active in sports. Her basketball coach said the girl was loved by others on her team and at her school. The younger community members appear to be finding comfort in social media, where positive messages for the victims and their families are flooding in.
No family deserves to lose a child in a car accident caused by a negligent driver. Texas families who have experienced the loss of a loved one may be eligible to seek financial compensation for a variety of civil claims, including those related to medical expenses and pain and suffering. Texas attorneys may be able to provide information about legal options to families who are suffering after a fatal car accident.
