The police in Austin, Texas, are still investigating a fatal car accident in which a 20-year-old woman was killed. The accident occurred near Lyons Street on Tillery Street.

According to initial reports, the driver, a 30-year-old man was driving north on Tillery. It's possible that he was speeding when he struck several utility poles. The car lost a tire and then might have rolled, slamming into yet another utility pole.

When police arrived on scene, they found the woman, who was also identified as 21 years old, dead at the scene of the accident. She had been ejected from the vehicle. The driver is now facing several serious charges, including failure to stop and render aid, intoxication manslaughter and manslaughter and DWI. He suffered minor injuries.

It is not known what the man's Breathalyzer readings were or if he was given a blood or urine test instead. It is also not known what his bond was or if it had been posted.

This woman is dead and it's allegedly due to the driver's recklessness and drunk driving. The family members of the woman who died may be able to file a claim against the driver for wrongful death. They could seek compensation for the woman's final expenses, loss of companionship, loss of income, loss of income potential and more.

This lawsuit would be different from the criminal charges the man will face; however, a conviction on those charges can help a civil wrongful death case. An attorney can advise you on your legal options for seeking compensation for the loss of your loved one.
