One of the highlights of the holiday season is the holiday parties. When you're hosting a party, you can have just as much fun planning the event as when it happens. Every responsible host, though, knows that every guests must arrive home safely. Here are some tips from Mothers Against Drunk Drivers to help you throw a safe and entertaining party:

-- When you receive your RSVPs from your guests, check to make sure that they have a designated driver in place, they plan to use a taxi or have some other safe way home.

-- Load up the food table to make sure that your partygoers aren't drinking without anything to eat. Not eating beforehand or during can increase the effects of alcohol.

-- Avoid laying out the peanuts and chips. While it's typical party fare, the saltier the drinks are, the more your guests will drink.

-- Ensure there are plenty of non-alcoholic beverages on hand. -- Do not serve alcohol to anyone who is not 21. Also, don't have anyone who is not 21 to serve alcohol.

-- Don't let your friends drive home if they are impaired. Offer your couch, the number to a taxi service or find them a sober driver.

-- Finally, make sure you stay within your limits so that you can ensure your guests' safety.

Drunk driving accidents can cause serious injuries and death, ripping families apart. A little planning goes a long way when you're party planning. If you are injured in an accident with a drunk driver, an experienced lawyer will help you seek compensation.
