On the first day of July, a 22-year-old man lost his life in a motorcycle versus car accident. It happened about 9:15 p.m., in Amarillo, Texas, where Ross Street and 13th Avenue intersect. According to police, the victim was not wearing a helmet when he was thrown from his motorcycle. A 1997 Honda Accord was turning left onto SE 14th when the victim's motorcycle struck the passenger's side front quarter panel of the car. The man perished at the accident scene. Police arrested the driver of the Accord. She was not injured and none of the passengers in her vehicle were injured. However, the driver was driving impaired, according to police. She was allegedly under the influence of a narcotic. She is now charged with intoxicated manslaughter. Her bail and next court appearance were not reported. The Amarillo Police's Traffic Investigation Squad is still investigating the accident. Accidents such as this one are tragic. Not only has a young man lost his life, but the driver of the Accord will now face criminal charges and in all likelihood, a civil case. The victim's family has every right to seek compensation from the woman for causing the death of their loved one. If you have been injured in a motorcycle accident that wasn't your fault, you have the right to seek compensation, too. It can take months, even years, to heal completely from injuries suffered in accident. In some cases, a victim may never return to the health that he or she enjoyed before the accident. An attorney experienced in personal injury cases can provide victims and their families with more information. Source:, "One killed in motorcycle versus car accident," Grayson Edds, July 01, 2015
