A young woman driving to her Alpine, Texas, home with her 3-year-old daughter and her 9-month-old son died at the scene of a car accident. The accident, which was allegedly caused by a drunk driver, happened outside of Grandfalls, Texas, between Monahans and Fort Stockton.

Many details regarding the tragic wreck have not been released yet. However, the woman's husband and children's father said that the 3-year-old was taken by ambulance, but didn't survive the trip to the hospital. Her brother suffered a fractured skull and is currently in a Lubbock hospital. The father lamented about losing both his wife and daughter, and said that sleeping with both of them would be so painful. He said that his daughter was a "daddy's girl" who wanted to sleep between her parents at night.

The impact of the head-on crash sent the victims' car flying off the road and into a ditch. The alleged drunk driver was over two times the legal limit according to the father.

When someone gets behind the wheel after drinking, he or she puts everyone else on the roadways at risk. Terrible tragedies like the one described above are commonplace when people drink and drive. While these individuals may be held criminally accountable in a court of law, a conviction isn't needed for that person to be held civilly responsible.

If you have lost a loved one because a driver got behind the wheel while intoxicated, you have a right to seek compensation. An experienced personal injury attorney can provide you with additional information on how the case could proceed.
