When motorcyclists are involved in an accident with another vehicle, they are often seriously or fatally injured. The lack of enclosure leads to many of these injuries. The size of motorcycles mean that bikers are often overlooked by other motorists. The statistics are available from 2013 on motorcycle accident fatalities. and they are pretty grim. These numbers are from the Texas Peace Officer's Crash Reports. In 2013, there were 460 people killed in motorcycle accidents in Texas. Of these, 180 were wearing their helmets when they were killed compared to 243 who weren't. Thirty-five passengers were killed. Twelve were wearing their helmets. Nineteen passengers who died were not wearing a helmet. Some defendants in civil cases try to show that it was only because the plaintiff wasn't wearing a helmet that he or she was injured or died in a motorcycle accident. However, helmets are not required in Texas for riders who are over 21 years of age. At the Levine Law Firm P.C., we represent motorcyclists and their families who are seeking compensation for the injuries and deaths resulting from another's negligence or recklessness in civil cases. We understand how difficult it can be to deal with the death of a loved one due to someone else's driving. We also know that serious injuries, such as spinal cord injuries, head injuries and broken bones, take a great deal of time to heal -- if they even hill properly. We review all of the evidence in the case and may bring in experts to testify on various points in the accident. You can learn more about motorcycle accidents by visiting our webpage on the topic. Let us help you seek the compensation you deserve.
