A second person has died from injuries suffered in a May 10 car accident in Austin, Texas. The accident occurred just before 3:30 a.m., where Dessau Road and East Parmer Lane intersect.

An SUV was traveling the wrong way on East Parmer Lane when it crashed head-on into another vehicle. The SUV flipped over, landing in the middle of the road. Another car smashed into the SUV. A passenger, 23, in the vehicle that was hit head-on died at the accident scene. The driver of that vehicle suffered critical injuries.

A passenger in the SUV, 39, suffered a possible spinal cord injury, as well as fractures to the right leg, left ankle and pelvis. Another passenger, who was in the backseat of the SUV, 36, suffered critical injuries and died on May 15. According to police, two bags of what is believed to be powered cocaine were found by the hospital staff.

The driver of SUV has been charged with one count of manslaughter, two counts of aggravated assault, two counts of intoxication assault and intoxication manslaughter. The driver was admitted to the hospital and is still there, according to police. There are more charges expected next week. His blood alcohol level was checked at the hospital and it was .2. That's more than two times the legal limit of .8.

An investigation by KVUE Defenders found that when it comes to wrong-way crashes, Texas leads the country. In the last three years, there have been six crashes resulting in deaths on Palmer Lane, according to the Texas Department of Transportation.

In total, there were two people killed in this accident and three people were injured. The families of those who died and the injured victims have a right to pursue compensation from the driver who was at-fault.

If you have suffered such a loss or been injured in such an accident, don't wait to learn more about how to seek compensation for your medical bills, pain and suffering, mental anguish, disfigurement and more.
