On April 12, a car crash in Austin, Texas, ended the life of a 20-year-old woman. A 26-year-old man has been charged with intoxication manslaughter in connection with that crash.

The accident occurred at the intersection of Gracy Farms Lane and Burnet Road at approximately 10:30 p.m. The man was traveling north on Burnet Road in a Chevy Camaro when, according to several witness, he ran a red light. He struck a Nissan Altima. The woman driving the Altima was pronounced dead at the accident scene.

The driver of the Camaro, as well as a passenger in the car, were both injured in the accident. They were transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Witnesses said the man ran several red lights and was speeding just before the accident.

The man's blood alcohol concentration was not reported, nor was whether there was a bond set in the case. He was taken to the Travis County Jail.

When an accident occurs because of an intoxicated driver, those who are injured, as well as the family members of the victims who were killed, have every right to seek financial compensation. Claims might include those for pain and suffering, medical expenses, funeral costs and loss of future wages. An experienced attorney can make the process of seeking compensation easier to understand and answer any questions the victim or the victim's family may have.

While you concentrate on healing or dealing with your loved one's loss, an attorney can work with the insurance companies. This difficult time does not need to be made worse because of an insurance company's hope that an initial settlement will be accepted.
