A two-vehicle collision in Montgomery County left one victim dead when the defendant's vehicle slammed into a family SUV. The female victim had been riding in the rear seat of the Mitsubishi SUV when it was struck by a Dodge 3500 at the intersection of SH 105 and Navajo. Authorities report that the driver who caused the car accident reportedly fled the scene on foot; however, he was apprehended after seeking medical attention at a Conroe hospital, where he received treatment for a broken arm. The driver has been identified as a 28-year-old Magnolia man who was driving drunk at the time of the incident. The man admitted that he was behind the wheel of the car when the fatal car crash occurred. Now, he is facing serious charges including intoxication assault with a vehicle, aggravated assault, intoxication manslaughter and others. Officers say that the family riding in the SUV consisted of two young people, ages 15 and 18, along with those teens' aunt and uncle. The older couple were riding in the rear of the vehicle when the car crash occurred. The aunt died in the fatal collision. It appears that the at-fault driver struck the rear-end of the SUV as that vehicle waited at a traffic light. The impact was so severe that the SUV's frame was actually broken, and the door skin of that vehicle separated from the car's body. The Dodge pushed the victims' vehicle through the intersection, ultimately causing it to flip over. It does not appear that the truck driver made any attempt to stop before striking the victims. Intoxicated drivers have no business on Texas roads. This negligent driver has caused inestimable pain and suffering because of his decision to get behind the wheel while drunk. This type of drunk and negligent driver should be held accountable for the expenses associated with such severe fatal wrecks.
